Muskoka in Focus
Real Estate Insight with a Locals Perspective

A Fresh Start for the Year Ahead

You may notice a slightly more personal touch in my newsletters this year. Alongside real estate insights, I thought I’d share a little more of what’s been on my mind and in my own home, in the hope that something resonates or offers a bit of motivation where it’s needed.

As we close out the Year of the Snake and step into the forward-moving energy of the Year of the Horse, I’ve been noticing the quiet corners of my home where things have felt… stuck. The spaces we close the door on and promise to deal with later.

Instead of overwhelming myself with an entire room, I started small.

My first target? The fridge.

Every Friday before compost day, I do a quick reset; toss what’s expired, wipe a shelf, and restore a little order. It takes just 15 minutes, but it shifts the whole feeling of the space.

If motivation feels low, try setting a timer for 15 minutes and begin anywhere. Momentum has a way of building once you start.

As we move into a year of bold, forward energy, here are a few places you might quietly look:

  • Clothes saved for “someday”
  • Shoes that hurt (even if they’re beautiful)
  • Broken items waiting to be fixed
  • “Just in case” things we keep because they might be useful one day
  • Unfinished projects that quietly drain your energy
  • Gifts kept out of obligation
  • Beauty products you never use (these little buggers clutter drawers/cupboards)
  • Items tied to old roles, careers or versions of yourself

Most of us have more than we need. You may be surprised how much lighter your home, and your mindset, can feel.

A Brief Muskoka Market Note

You may be hearing that average prices are holding steady in Muskoka. What’s important to understand is that averages don’t always reflect what’s happening in every price range.

Fewer properties are selling overall, particularly in the entry and mid-range segments. That creates opportunity for buyers, while sellers benefit from thoughtful, realistic pricing within their specific range.

At the same time, waterfront inventory remains limited, which means well-priced, quality properties continue to draw interest.

Thinking about a move this year?
I am always happy to chat.

Oh, by the way, I am never too busy for your referrals…
